Managing E-Waste in Mizoram
When it comes to technology, everybody is up-to-date nowadays. Everybody knows where to buy electronic devices from. But how many people know where to dispose of electronic devices that are outdated or broken? Unfortunately, only a limited number of people are aware of how to properly dispose of electronic waste in Mizoram. Disposing of e-waste in the open carelessly is a bug problem that needs to be solved as soon as possible.
Let’s find out how electronic waste is adversely affecting our surroundings.
How is E-Waste Polluting our Environment?
- E-waste contains harmful chemicals, and when they are disposed of in the environment, these chemicals seep into the soil and water and pollute them.
- When disposed of inappropriately, e-waste emits greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and methane into the atmosphere.
- Since electronic devices contain plastic, disposing of outdated or broken electronic devices in the open leads to environmental pollution.
- Burning e-waste out in the environment is one of the major reasons for lung cancer and other health problems.
